Located in Pera, one of Istanbul’s most precious locations in terms of urban memory, the Westist Hotel & Spa has been designed with a holistic approach that associates all its layers with each other, and its architectural, interior design, brand and concept design and graphic design works are realized by Pavé Studio. The elements regarding its brand identity built from scratch are integrated into the architecture and interior design, while the visual integrity is also reflected to the functional areas. With a minimalist understanding of design respecting the fellow residents, its sensitivity to its neighbourhood is shown with a dream of being a contemporary milestone that contributes visually and physically to its location. In order to increase the visibility of the boutique hotel that is cramped between two buildings in a narrow street, plays of low-key geometric forms and the use of black and white colours are used in the facade. While, beside the facade, the linear, geometric forms on the floor and walls of the shared spaces, lobby, corridor and rooms in the interior spaces create a modern and dynamic atmosphere, a second emphasis is made on lively colours and plants, contributing to a cozy and sincere feeling. The hotel’s motto, “Follow the White Rabbit”, taking its inspiration from Alice in Wonderland, is elegantly visible in the details, adding a surprising and adventurous layer to the simple design approach. The use of linear patterns and geometric forms are redefined via this adventurous language, while the change of spaces are powerfully felt with the perception of widening and tightening spaces, the vortex effect created on the stairs and the impression of falling into a forest when entering into shared spaces like the lobby and restaurant.
